DERMATOLOGY CERTIFIED NURSE PRACTITIONER

Georgia Skin & Cancer Clinic
KAREN PENROSE, MSN, APRN, FNP-BC

Karen Penrose has lived in Georgia her entire life. She began her nursing career as an Armstrong College graduate in 1991 with experiences in emergency and cardiac nursing.  Karen desired to achieve further education, returned to school and graduated from Georgia Southern with her FNP degree. She spent 8 years in the primary care setting, before seeking a more specialized practice. She began her journey with GSCC in 2004, where she now prides herself as a Dermatology Certified Nurse Practitioner in our Statesboro location. Karen believes in putting God first and everything else second. If you don’t find her at work you will likely find her on a football or baseball field with her family.

A message from Karen Penrose:

We have all heard the saying “Beauty is more than skin deep.” While TRUE beauty is more than skin deep, I believe that when a patient comes to see me about their concern for their skin, the TRUE concern is deeper than what I can see on the skin. Perhaps they are worried that a skin cancer will spread internally because the same thing happened to a loved one. Maybe acne causes them to have low self-esteem. Maybe psoriasis affects them intimately but they are too embarrassed to say it. Therefore, I approach patient care with the thought that “the concern is more than skin deep.”
